Tart Dough

Ingredients

  • 250 grams, (2 cups) flour

  • 50 grams (1/4 cup) sugar

  • A pinch of salt

  • 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces

  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon cold water


Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400º F and place a 9 1/2 inch tart pan on a baking sheet.

  2. In the bowl of a food processor pulse together 250 grams flour, 50 grams of sugar, and a pinch of salt until combined. Add in the 2 sticks of butter and pulse until there are pea sized granules. Add in 1 tablespoon white vinegar and 1 tablespoon cold water. Pulse until a dough begins to form.

  3. Poor the dough onto the tart pan and spread evenly across the bottom and up the sides. Prick the bottom with a fork to make small holes.

  4. Add the filling of your choice and bake for one hour until the tart is golden and the filling is cooked. Remove from the oven and let the tart cool in its pan until it reaches room temperature. Add any toppings like fresh fruit or whipped cream and serve.


Notes

  • Yield: 9 1/2 inch tart
